No third-party handwriting support
The program claims to have handwriting recognition, but in fact it only uses the iPhone's available "keyboards".. meaning that at best you can only write Chinese Traditional or Chinese Simplified characters, which frequently differ from their Japanese counterparts, and on top of that you need to know the exact stroke order. As of this writing (OS v2.1), the iPhone still has no Japanese character handwriting recognition!
Total waste of money
Ok don't buy this go for Kotoba it's free and better.. What good is an english japanese dictionary without Romanji (Phonetic english) pronunciation.... Unless you read katakana, in which case you probably don't need this, it's a waste and an expensive one..
Unfortunately theres no option for no stars
Used to work.
The Thugnificent Professor Magnifico write:
Most people don't like this because it does not work like most foreign language-English dictionaries, but neither do most japanese-English dictionaries. It's a tough language, deal with it. My only beef is that it seems that the international keyboard functionality has disappeared with iPhone 3.0 which does render this dictionary useless. Don't buy until that is fixed.
